Every “free” file tool asks for an upload. The file leaves the laptop, waits in a queue, and comes back as a download. These tools run in the tab because the browser already has the APIs to do the work.

The catalogue

PDF merge, split, and compress; image resize and background removal; a YouTube transcript extractor; a text case converter; a handful of small utilities that remove a recurring friction. Each tool is a single page with no account, no onboarding, and no upload step.

The constraint is local-first. A PDF is assembled in memory with pdf-lib, an image is resized on a canvas, and background removal runs through a small WebAssembly model. When a tool cannot work locally, it says so instead of quietly posting the file to a server.

The interface

The tools share one shell: a search field, a category row, and a grid of cards that show the actual tool rather than an illustration. The page is deliberately quiet. The useful thing is one click away, and the interface does not pretend the utility is a product.
